COMMON QUERIES
WHAT IS CROSSFIT?
DO I HAVE TO BE STRONG OR FIT TO START CROSSFIT?
Crossfit is a lifestyle characterized by safe, effective exercise and sound nutrition. Crossfit can be used to accomplish any goal, from improved health to weight loss to better performance. The program works for everyone—people who are just starting out and those who have trained for years.
Most certainly not. We all need to start somewhere and that's the beauty of CrossFit, it is accommodating to all levels with scaled options for each exercise. CrossFit is a perfect option for those who are just about to start their fitness journey. Come and do a trial class, we promise you'll leave feeling great and wanting more!
WHAT IS A FUNDAMENTALS CLASS?
WILL I GET BIGGER MUSCLES IF I DO CROSSFIT?
No, not necessarily. Each workout is designed to achieve a certain stimulus and will prescribe a scale of weights to lift within that workout based upon your ability or personal preference. So if you don't want to get big then you can choose to lift lighter weights - noting that some workouts are strictly bodyweight or machine workouts.
A Fundamentals Class is an optional 2-hour class to teach you how to do the basic fundamental moves of CrossFit. These classes are smaller personal group sessions with a CrossFit coach. They provide the perfect opportunity for you to learn safe and efficient movement mechanics, whilst giving you the chance to raise questions and gain additional confidence outside of a CrossFit class environment.
DO I NEED WEIGHTLIFTING OR GYMNASTICS EXPERIENCE BEFORE TAKING PART IN A CROSSFIT CLASS?
No, you don't, but we do recommend that you attend our Fundamentals Class and attend one of our Skills Workshops to help you along the way. These elements of CrossFit are usually considered as the movements with a higher degree of skill than others which means they require a little longer to master than other movements. This does not mean that you can't take part as our coaches will teach you the movement during your class. They will even provide you with an option to do a simplified version of the exercise. Our aim is to get you moving well and having fun!
WHAT DO THE DIFFERENT CROSSFIT ACRONYMS MEAN?
There are many acronyms in CrossFit but please don't let this put you off as the coach will explain what these mean in each class. However, to get you started we have listed the main ones below:

WoD - Workout of the Day
RX - Prescribed
RFT - Rounds For Time
FT - For Time
FQ - For Quality
AMRAP - As Many "Rounds" As Possible
AMReps - As Many "Reps" As Possible
EMOM - Every Minute On the Minute
RM - Rep Max

Remember you don't need to learn these off by heart. Although, you will naturally pick these up in no time once you've done a couple of classes with us.
CAN I USE YOUR FACILITIES IF I DON'T WANT TO DO CROSSFIT?
Yes of course you can, depending on availability. We have two rooms, which allows us to offer alternative classes to CrossFit. You will also have the option within our timetable to do an 'Open Gym' session, which is a none coached class that allows you to train as you wish as if you were in any other type of standard gym.
HOW DO I BOOK ONTO A CLASS?
To book onto a class is simple, all you need to do is purchase one of our memberships or passes on the Membership page. We will send you a link of how to book onto a class via the Wodbord app which will contain our class timetable for that week.
